The course is open to all university staff (capped at 25 places) and our White Ribbon Steering Group are liaising with local partners to extend the invite and raise awareness of our White Ribbon action, with a further 25 places being reserved for external partner representatives. In this session, attendees will explore the societal pressures that affect boys and men and learn practical ways to shape language to engage men more effectively. We examine how masculinity is modelled throughout childhood and adolescence, and how it continues into adulthood. By understanding the roots of certain behaviours, without excusing them, we can reframe the conversation from ‘toxic masculinity’ to focussing on the absence of positive masculinity and consider how we can encourage healthier expressions of male identity.
